Due South once found lovely position, saves all the steps up to the abbey. A drink on the  balcony  in the evening sunshine then down to Mr Chips for dinner excellent. MR Chips well recommended, much more than fish and chips.
If we come back to Whitby it would have to be Due South

Our stay at Due South was splendid! The accommodation has great character - it will not be forgotten. We had everything we needed and more. It was wonderful to have everything we needed for breakfast. Our hosts Tom and Sybil were so welcoming and took great care in making sure that we understood how things worked including the safety features. We also enjoyed Toms stories about the manor house and the area, There were other nice touches like the coupon for Whitby abbey, books and pamphlets on the region and even DVDs available to watch. Thank you so much!

The accommodation was charming and perfick containing everything we needed and was also very comfortable. The biscuits and milk provided by Tom and Sybil meant we were able to relax the minute we arrived. We had a wonderful week.

Had a most enjoyable week here, very nice accommodation, very peaceful after long days out. Am going home with a huge amount of fossils which we have collected from Saltwick  Bay , Robin Hoods Bay, Sandsend, Runswick Bay. Lovely walks on the Cleveland way, great fun crabbing in the harbour and plenty of window shopping. Thank you for a very comfortable week in your lovely well placed apartment.

PS if sea is rough, go and watch the waves crashing in at the East pier, end of Henrietta Street, absolutely mesmerising!!

Sybil & Tom

Had a great week in Due South, a lovely apartment and a warm welcome from Tom & Sybil. Due South could not be better placed for exploring Whitby and the view up river is wonderful. We had trips out to Staithes and Helmsley and loved both of them. Got some  great sunset photos too, a rare thing on the East coast!”

Thanks again for a great week, we would certainly recommend  Due  South to anyone wanting to stay in Whitby.

Thank you so much for a wonderful flat. I’ve been so comfortable here for the last ten days. While I chose the flat for time alone, it was so spacious I was able to invite , first my mother , then an old friend to join me, and I was so happy to share this lovely space with others. While it rained every day, the sun also shone every day and the sunsets have been phenomenal. I very much enjoyed meeting Whitby people – including yourselves who were all so kind and interesting. I could not imagine a nicer holiday.

18 years since we last visited Whitby; the place is as pretty as ever though pleasanter during the week than a weekends when its over run  with the day trippers. The weather was better than forecast. We’ve seen Whitby in all its moods, biblical rain-eerie mists, but also blue skies and sunshine. We enjoyed the rolling English countryside- I now know the meaning of ‘ uphill and down dale’ loved Esk valley, Robin Hoods Bay, Staithes and Scarborough suffering a bit, The obligatory Mr Chips fish and chips lived up to its billing. Also had  two  memorable meals in Bino’s on the harbour front. Nice atmosphere and good selection of second hand fiction at Beckets café on Skinner Street. It was great to have our lovely accommodation, so attractive and so well located to retreat to. I especially like the balcony and watching pigeons , seagulls and diving swallows----One of the best self catering  (of many!)places we’ve stayed in.

Dear Tom and Sybil,

“Due South” is an excellent apartment, nicely decorated, with a great view. Whitby is very picturesque. What we liked most was walking the Cleveland Way(to Robin Hoods Bay, around Staithes). We had very decent weather. Also we would like to compliment Tom and Sybil on their garden, which is really beautiful.

We had a great time here- Thanks A Lot!

Due South has been an excellent base during our stay in Whitby. It is superbly equipped and very tastefully decorated. We found it very conveniently located with only a short walk to the town centre and the Abbey. As with previous visitors we found the town much better during weekdays after the day trippers had departed(& their litter!) and the little harbour area behind the shambles to be particularly relaxing.

If you want a change from fish & chips we recommend Greens restaurant & for a great day out – the railway!

My first time in Yorkshire and Whitby is one of the loveliest places I’ve ever been to. Here at Due South I felt home and completely at ease. Thank you for the warm welcome and for making this place so unique.

I will certainly be back to my home away from home (and I haven’t slept so well in a long time).

Due South is full of character. We particularly enjoyed our balcony and the view out to sea. I’m sure we’ve benefited from our daily climb from town up to The Ropery – Whitby is a very charismatic place and has not changed greatly from our last visit.

Absolutely beautiful, came for the goth weekend and there was enough space and storage for all our clothes. I have been coming to Whitby for the last 10+ years and this is the best positioned prettiest accommodation we have stopped in. We hope to use Due South again if Tom and Sybil will have us lol and we hope to sort a short family stay too. Place is clean, milk in fridge, very appreciated. View from windows, balcony are beautiful. Very recommended.

Due South is a truly lovely place to stay in Whitby. We only stayed a couple of nights but wish we could have spent longer here. The apartment is fantastic – Tom and Sybil have made it a cosy homely place to stay and it has great views from the balcony. The location is perfect for the abbey and lots of lovely shops and restaurants – we had an amazing seafood meal in Greens (a few minutes walk away) We would love to come back & will definitely tell our friends that this is the place to stay in Whitby.

We've had a fantastic week at Due South with a warm and friendly welcome.A very comfortable stay and sunny weather all week.

We have walked the Cleveland way coastal path from Saltburn to Scarborough and also part of the cinder trail from Cloughton to Robin Hoods Bay.

Having breakfast or dinner on the balcony is just lovely. We are very sad to be leaving but look forwards to a return visit.
